If this is your first Christmas as a widow or widower, you may be struggling with what to do about Christmas cards this year. The choices include – mail as usual, shorten your list, skip this year or write a “Christmas letter”. A letter addressed to those closest to you could include words of gratitude for love and support during your partner’s final illness or passing.
The important thing is that you do not force yourself to do things that will add stress to the grief you are experiencing. The recommendations of grief counselors is to do what feels comfortable. Most certainly, those on your Christmas card list would make the same recommendation.
