Not alone

I spoke to a person recently who was disturbed because no one was with her father when he died. Some widows or widowers have similar concerns if their spouse died suddenly of a heart attack or in an accident away from home. Some even torture themselves because they left the bedside briefly and found he/she had passed when they returned. The evidence is overwhelming that they were not alone. The New Church teachings say that angels know no greater happiness than welcoming those who arrive from the world. I’ve also read more than a dozen books that recount stories of those near death who describe being attended to by loving souls and also by loved ones who have already gone on to the next life. Death is such an important part of life eternal that the Lord provides for a loving welcoming entrance into that stage of life.
